Covid & Health Policies

Partner dancing is a high risk activity for contracting Covid-19 and other respiratory illnesses. Please take precautions to help limit the spread of illness during the event and keep our community as safe as possible.

It is essential that participants do not attend the event if they are unwell. Please do not attend the event if you have tested positive for COVID within the preceding 10 days of the event. We recommend that all attendees do a self-test before the event and also a few days afterwards. If you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid within 10 days before the event, please complete a self-test before attending. Please contact greatlakesbalboaescape@gmail.com for a full refund or transfer to 2025 if you are feeling unwell or test positive for COVID before the event.

Do not attend if you are feeling any symptoms related to Covid-19. Symptoms may be “allergy-like” and can include the following:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

If possible, please limit exposure 7 days before the event. Consider wearing a mask if you will be attending any large indoor gatherings before the event or taking a plane or public transportation to the event.

We also recommend that you do not visit vulnerable people (the elderly, unvaccinated, and immunocompromised) soon after attending this event.

During the event, masking is encouraged, but not required. Free KN95 masks will be available at registration and in the staff room. There will also be Covid-19 tests available in the staff room. Participants who become ill during the event may transfer their ticket to 2025. Those who are immunocompromised or interact with vulnerable individuals should consider wearing a high quality mask during the event such as N95, KN95, KF94, or surgical mask.

Please be respectful of each person’s choice as to mask wearing, and courteous to others if asked to wear a mask when sharing a dance.

When possible, windows will be opened in classrooms to increase air flow. Hand sanitizer will be available in all classrooms during the event.  Please thoroughly wash your hands when using the restroom during the event and wash your hands before eating when possible.

Attendees are encouraged to ensure that their Covid-19 vaccinations are current and in accordance with recommendations provided by their healthcare professionals.

Please see the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Website for additional information.

As the Covid landscape is constantly evolving, Great Lakes Balboa Escape reserves the right to adjust these policies should conditions worsen.
