Amy’s life purpose is to guide others towards a more elevated and powerful version of themselves.
Amy Lu is a Swiss-Asian-American dancer originally from Seattle, Washington. Inspired by the neo-Swing era of the 90s, she took her first classes in 2006 at Seattle’s Century Ballroom where she met her life and dance partner, Alex Lieu. They both later relocated to Geneva, Switzerland, where they have been since 2010.
Amy is a multidisciplinary teacher with a combined 30 years of experience teaching Maths, the arts, leadership, tennis, yoga, movement, and dance. She has taught local classes of Balboa, Collegiate Shag, and Lindy Hop for Geneva Swing since 2014. She can also be found teaching internationally throughout Europe and Asia.
Amy is highly attentive to lesson planning and delivery. She designs structured yet open lessons to invite curiosity, exploration, and playfulness, steering dancers towards different modalities of thinking, feeling, and moving. Amy guides with the principle that mind and movement are inseparable, and that movement is a metaphor of how we show up in life. Amy’s key areas of focus are authenticity, movement quality, inclusivity, empowerment, and community.
